BONDING

Bonding is a tooth-colored material that is used to repair or improve the esthetics of teeth. Bonding is usually used in areas where there are low biting forces such as the front teeth. Additional uses for bonding include:
 

• Repairing chipped or cracked teeth

• Improving the appearance of discolored teeth

• Closing spaces between teeth

• Increasing tooth length

• Changing the shape of teeth

• Acting as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings

• Protecting the root surface on a tooth during gums recession
   

There are some limitations to the bonding material, so it is most often used for small corrections. Large corrections usually require stronger materials such as porcelain. Your dentist at Southdale Dental Associates will discuss the best options with you during your appointment.
